Tor Browser 12.5a7 is now available from the Tor Browser download page and also from our distribution directory.

This release updates Firefox to 102.12.0esr, including bug fixes, stability improvements and important security updates. We also backported the Android-specific security updates from Firefox 114.

We would like to thank volunteer contributor cypherpunks1 for their fixes for tor-browser#33298, tor-browser#41792, and tor-browser#41785. If you would like to contribute, our issue tracker can be found here.

This should be the last alpha in the 12.5 series, so this release should be considered a release candidate for 12.5.0 which will be released in the coming weeks. If you find any issues, please report them on our gitlab or on the Tor Project forum.

Build-Signing Infrastructure Updates

We are once again able to code-sign our executable Windows installer, so new installations on the Windows platform no longer need to perform a build-to-build update from an older version. We apologize for all the inconvenience this caused.

Windows, Mac and Linux get 19 changes and all of them are improvements, Android gets 1 change and its a basic update. I know you guys are still hiring for an Android developer but right now we’re definitely feeling heavily sidelined which isn’t fair regardless of who you have. Please consider everybody’s safety rather than just that of people with PC’s.

I installed the new update, relatively the connection speed has increased in Iran, I am very satisfied

Hey @Screen! I hear you. The new icon for onion sites in bug tor-browser#41749 should have been deployed to Android too, so we’ll follow up on that in time for the next release. And to clarify, the changes under “All Platforms” affect Android as well.

However you’re right, a lot of the changes in this release are specific to features that are only available on desktop (e.g. connection assist, bridge cards etc.). Personally, I’m really looking forward to having a new Android developer on board so that we can begin to change that situation :slight_smile:
